Ray tracing have been used in film, television, and visualization for decades by those striving for the most realistic imagery. Recently, ray tracing a single frame at film resolution would take several hours or even days, but not now. With the power of Unreal Engine 4 combined with Real-Time Ray Tracing (NVIDIA RTX), it’s possible to achieve hi-end level of graphics comparable with many offline renderings, but in a fraction of a second. Real-time ray tracing makes things look more natural producing soft shadowing for area lights, accurate ambient occlusion, interactive global illumination, and more. To prove the all-mightiness of this power-combo, Lunas has created a 3D animation video of a Loft-style condo. You can see the camera gradually sliding from one space into another, changing focus as if mimicking human eyesight – all to make the viewer feel welcome in the yet non-existent apartment.
